Last Absolute Defense: Shield of Shukaku

Using sand, Gaara can create a toy-like replica of Shukaku roughly twice his size. The replica is created with extreme pressure and the hardest minerals in the area combined with his chakra, making it virtually indestructible. Although this technique requires a lot of chakra, it does provide for a very powerful defense. The main drawback, however, is that the replica doesn't move, so Gaara's opponent could just walk around it. Gaara has to make sure his opponent either can't or won't move.

Sasuke's One Thousand Birds Current

A variation on a regular One Thousand Birds developed by Sasuke during his two-and-a-half year training with Orochimaru, this jutsu allows Sasuke to cover himself in electricity, instead of just concentrating it in his hand. The electricity can be channeled anywhere, allowing Sasuke to enhance his attacks with it. Because it is channeled throughout his entire body and not concentrated, the electricity will only cause temporary paralysis instead of killing an opponent. While this is not a problem in one-on-one battles, it does allow others to save their comrade if Sasuke is outnumbered. Sasuke can also channel the electricity through his Kusanagi sword, increasing its overall strength and cutting power.

Quicksand in the Style of a Waterfall

This jutsu creates a massive amount of sand and sends it towards an opponent in the form of a wave, covering and "drowning" them in an ocean of sand. In addition to the wave effect of the jutsu, Gaara can control the sand, allowing him to attack his opponent while they attempt to outrun the wave. This appears to be the only one of Gaara's moves that requires hand seals, and in practice is virtually unavoidable. Once completed, it can cover an entire forest in sand.

Fire Release: Toad Oil Flame Bullet

Gamabunta spits out a large amount of oil, which is then ignited by the user. Jiraiya uses Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique to ignite the oil while Naruto uses an exploding tag since he doesn't know any fire techniques. The sheer amount of oil Gamabunta is capable of spitting allows this jutsu to reach further and cover a much larger area than any other fire jutsu.

Sand Drizzle

This jutsu is an alternative to Gaara's Desert Coffin; it gathers sand in the air and then targets the opponent from above, covering them in a rain of sand.

In the second movie, an alternate form was shown in which Gaara used this technique to attack his opponent directly. By forming the sand into needle like projectile, he fired them towards his opponent at a very high speed.

Shadow Imitation Technique

The signature move of the Nara family, this jutsu allows the user to control their own shadow and merge it with their opponent's shadow, combining them. This links the movements of the user with the target; the target is subsequently forced to make any movement the user makes. It is an extremely versatile technique, as the user can contract and change the shape of their shadow, potentially grabbing multiple targets at once. The degree to which the user's shadow can be stretched is limited by its total surface area. Using the shadows of other objects, the user can extend their shadow beyond its normal range.

Shield of Sand

This jutsu causes sand to automatically surround and protect Gaara from harm, even if it's self-inflicted, regardless of whether or not he wants it to. The shield is capable of withstanding considerably strong attacks and projectiles, and can be hardened to a point where it's stronger than steel. It can be defeated by avoiding it completely with extremely high-speed attacks, or merely overcoming the shield with incredible brute force. When Gaara uses the shield to create a defensive sphere, the sand can also form spikes to impale opponents who approach.

Shukaku takes a deep breath and shoots a large ball of compressed air and chakra at an opponent, causing an enormous conflagration if it hits. Even opponents as large as Gamabunta are in danger against such an attack.

Rain of Spiders

After Kidomaru summons his giant spider, it will release an egg sac full of baby spiders roughly the size of a small dog. Kidomaru then cuts open the sac, causing the spiders to rain down on his opponent. The spiders will spin a strand of webbing as they fall, circling the opponent in webbing and sticking them to the ground.

This technique arms Orochimaru with the Kusanagi (草薙, "Grass Halberd") of Japanese legend. To retrieve it, Orochimaru opens his mouth and a snake comes out. The snake then opens its mouth and produces the Kusanagi. The sword can be produced either handle or blade-first, allowing Orochimaru to wield it from his mouth if necessary. The sword can cut through almost any object, its blade can extend to many times its normal length, and it can be controlled remotely by Orochimaru.

The sword is depicted differently in the anime and manga. In the anime, it is a guardless, double-edged Jian sword, while it is depicted more like an ordinary katana in the manga.

Sasuke also has a Kusanagi sword, which he amplifies with his One Thousand Birds Current. Sasuke's sword, however, is not the same legendary sword. Sasuke's Kusanagi resembles a black katana in a shirasaya (a wooden sheath designed to conceal or store a blade for a long time). Additionally, Sasuke carries his Kusanagi rather than summoning it, so he can draw the sword very quickly. Lastly, his Kusanagi doesn't stretch like the real version does.

In the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja series, Orochimaru can summon more than one Kusanagi blade and control them using his chakra

This jutsu allows the user to project a number of snakes from their wrist or sleeve as they make a punching motion towards their intended target. The snakes can be used to inflict multiple wounds at a distance or hold a target in place. The snakes are even capable of poisoning the victim.

After tossing a needle-filled umbrella into the air, this jutsu can be used to fire a barrage of hundreds of needles from sockets in the umbrella. The needles come at the enemy at Mach speed and can surround them from all directions. Chakra is utilized to control and increase the accuracy of every needle, making them impossible to dodge or evade. In the manga, it's said that the needles are capable of piercing through five millimeters of steel, yet they are not powerful enough to get past Gaara's Shield of Sand.

Originally developed for spying activities, this technique can be done after some surgery and actual body modification. The user dislocates their joints then controls their softened body with chakra, allowing them to stretch and twist any part of their body at any angle, elongating and even coiling around their opponent. This can also be used to make the user's body more malleable and snakelike. Orochimaru can do this without surgical modification thanks to his various forbidden jutsu. By channeling his chakra into Asuma Sarutobi's trench knives, Shikamaru can use them to pin his opponent's shadow to the ground, immobilizing his opponent. The technique doesn't require any further effort on Shikamaru's part to maintain, but whether or not it has a time limit is unclear. With the opponent pinned, Shikamaru can then use his regular Shadow Imitation Technique to control them at his leisure.

Mystical Palm Technique

This jutsu is a multi-purpose medical technique used by medic-nin to heal wounds and perform surgery. For the former, the user concentrates chakra to their hand and applies it to a wound, speeding up cell regeneration. For the latter, the user focuses their chakra into a blade to make cuts where necessary. Because it is done with chakra, the user doesn't need to cut through their target's skin to reach muscles and organs. For this to be applied effectively in healing, a large amount of chakra is required. Using it to cut seems to be less chakra-intensive. This cutting aspect of this jutsu can also be used in combat, though it requires incredible precision on the user's part to be effective.

Thousand Flying Water Needles

• Name: Sensatsu Suishō, 千殺水翔, literally "Thousand Flying Water Needles of Death", English TV "Secret Jutsu: A Thousand Needles of Death"

Using this jutsu, Haku gathers some water from the air and surrounding environment into one thousand long needles, and then directs them a specific target at high speed, leaping backwards before impact so he doesn't get caught in the crossfire. While the needles do surround a target from all sides, they don't appear above the target, creating an escape route. Haku is able to perform this jutsu with one-handed seals, allowing him to pin an opponent's arm and attack while they cannot use any techniques themselves.
